SIGMICRO Online Newsletter 2.0: A Webzine for the Microarchitecture Community

by Russ Joseph last modified 2008-06-27 16:06

Greetings! Welcome to the re-launch of SIGMICRO Online Newsletter. In its previous incarnation, the newsletter tracked technology news relating to microarchitecture, featured web seminars, and showcased in-progress research projects by web-publishing some workshop proceedings. The second time around, we plan to revive all of those functions and then some.

The newsletter is being relaunched as an interactive webzine. We will include all of the previous features but will also add some new types of content. In particular, we will publish original feature columns written by experts in our community. These features will range from tutorials about new research topics to opinion pieces. We plan to also include a microarchitecture wiki that provides introductions to research topics in our field complete with links to seminal papers and research groups. This could serve as a launching pad for first-year graduate students or established researchers looking to branch out. We will solicit community members to provide content for the wiki and update it over time.

A central concept to all of our online offerings will be discussion. Virtually all of our original content will be made open for bboard comments. This should allow our community to maintain an on going dialog on anything published on our site. We hope that this direct feedback can help to guide the development our webzine and help to make it more relevant to the microarchitecture community as a whole.

Here's to a bright future!
